So often, photographs of waterfalls use long exposures, creating ethereal, otherworldly movement. But if you\u2019ve ever stood beside even a modest waterfall, \u201cethereal\u201d or \u201cotherworldly\u201d are the last words you\u2019d think of.<\/p>\n
Waterfalls are noisy, dramatic beasts. My wife even calls them \u201ccrispy.\u201d Their movements are violent and unrelenting, full of chaos and energy. The continuous roar of a large waterfall can be so overwhelming it becomes almost unbearable after a while.<\/p>\n
